The kits are especially useful for remote installations such as a weather station or wilderness cabin because they are completely self contained. Everything you need from the panels to the wires, battery backup, charge controller, and mounting brackets is included.

Two of the biggest advantages solar power has over the competition are that it doesn’t require a transmission grid the way other power sources do, and that it scales down much more readily than other forms of power. Hydroelectric power is an example of a power source that doesn’t scale well, and has a geographically limited number of useful locations.
