Researches at the New Jersey Institute of Technology have developed a solar cell than can be printed onto flexible plastic sheets using a standard inkjet printer, like the ones found in most homes. This is an exciting innovation that has the potential to provide inexpensive flexible solar panels for everyone. The technology developed by the NJIT uses carbon nanotubes, which are 50,000 times smaller than human hair but can conduct current better than standard electrical wire.
Innovations in flexible solar panels continue to progress and given time, everybody will be taking advantage of this lightweight, transportable and free energy source.
