Solar panels are a competitive and conservationist way to meet your electric needs.
Within a grid tie system, solar panels can provide as much or as little power as you feel comfortable with. One of the great things about solar power is that it is modular and easily scalable. So if you want to put in just a few kilowatts of capacity now and add to it later, you can start with moderate panels such as these. (SunWize SW1750, 180W Solar Module)
The scalability of solar panels is one of the major appeals to the power source but it is not the only advantage solar offers. Solar panels are silent and in general contain no moving parts. The one exception to this is panels that track the sun. These panels are mounted on pivoting brackets which are moved by a small motor. By following the sun’s path across the sky, these panels offer a greater exposure of peak sun time compared to panels with fixed mounting.
