Portable solar energy would not be possible without portable solar panels. These solar panels are becoming more and more transportable. CIGS technology, with stands for Copper Indium Gallium (di)Selenide, is being used to create thin film solar cells, which are lighter and can be folded up to optimize solar powers portability.

Portable solar panels are also being used with generators. These units are simply generators on wheels with a large solar panel attached. They can be lifesavers during crisis situations such as a hurricane, when the power grid goes down.
In many deprived areas the main source of heat used to cook with is charcoal. The fumes from this source is known as “black carbon” and is causing millions of people each year to die from respiratory diseases that could be prevented by using solar ovens.

Portable solar panels attached to solar ovens, generate the same amount of heat as conventional ovens. The solar oven means that people cook without putting their health at risk and use this portable and green cooking facility where ever and whenever they need it.
