Solar Lights

In commercial properties, lighting is the single largest consumer of electricity. When you drive by office buildings at night you may often notice that the lights are on... but nobody’s home. A solution to this problem is available. The solution is solar.

Solar lights are efficient and effective. When solar technology is used in conjunction with LED bulbs, the energy use is considerably less compared to standard incandescent bulbs. LED bulbs also have a longer life: 100,000 hours compared to 1000 hours.

When using solar power for lighting, every variation that is possible with standard energy is possible in a green and clean alternative.

A complete street light system is able to run on solar power. The safety on our roads is of paramount importance, and it is for that reason that solar streetlights must be augmented to provide power relevant to the conditions and restrictions of a particular environment. Once the specifications of the particular climate have been assessed, installation of a solar street lighting system is clean and fast. Like most external solar lights, there is no trenching needed and this means minimal disruption to traffic.

Solar lights can go places standard electrical lights cannot. This is because they are without wires, a self-sustaining source of light. It is for this reason that solar lights can offer security that has never before been possible. For example, a parking lot in the middle of the night is an intimidating environment. Pockets of shadow offer hiding places for criminals. These shadows are available to the criminal’s advantage because of the restrictions in light installation. With solar lighting, a light can go virtually anywhere, giving comfort to the public.

In the home as well, a motion detector solar security light can warn off potential intruders. Because of the use of energy saving motion detectors, the life span of this solar light is even longer. Even in the event of a power cut, when a home is at its most vulnerable, solar lighting will continue to shine, having stored energy all through the day, ready to release it when you need it most.

The future of solar lighting is in hybrid solar technology. Artificial light has been linked to Seasonal Acquired Depression and the cause of headaches and eyestrain. With hybrid solar lighting, sunlight is directed indoors via optical light cables. This gives natural light to a space and will change during the day, giving the consumer a sense of the external. On a sunny day, no electricity is used as the sunlight is driven directly to the bulb via a UV filter to filter off harmful rays.

Finally, in these increasingly desperate days, we may have at last found a way to harness the natural light that shines down above us everyday and transmit it indoors in an almost carbon-neutral way.  Looking at the sun can blind us, but harnessing its power may just enlighten us.
