Having a reliable Security system in a commercial property is essential and solar security lighting is proven to be as reliable as standard lighting but without the constant expense.
A solar security light will use LED bulbs for a high light output at the minimum amount of energy consumption. It will also use a passive infrared motion detector that will activate the light when movement is detected. This infrared motion detector means that the unit will retain more energy by not having to be constantly active.
Infrared motion detectors will typically detect movement through a 180-degree angle and at a 75-foot range.
Solar security lights can come with the solar panel mounted into the product or separate. Depending on where you want to install your solar panel, it may be wise to purchase one with a separate solar panel. This has advantages because the panel should be south facing to get the most sun, and if your unit is attached to the solar panel, it might not be in your interest to have the security light facing south.
Rechargeable batteries are required for storage. The rechargeable batteries included in solar security lighting systems are easily replaceable and usually have a lifespan of two years. When it comes to choosing the type of rechargeable battery, there are two sub-divisions of alkaline battery. Alkaline batteries are made from either nickel cadmium (NiCd) or nickel metal hydride (NiMH). Nickel metal hydride does less damage to the environment because it discharges its energy slower than the cadmium alternative.
